Sport & Activity Professionals have been asked to be a Kickstart Gateway Organisation for your sector. We’re delighted to be involved with this scheme and wanted to share with you the benefits and opportunities for your business.

The scheme is government-funded and fully funds the direct creation of new jobs for young people (18-24) at risk of long-term unemployment.  The aim is to give these young people the chance to build confidence and employment skills which will enhance their chances of finding long-term work.

The scheme is part of a package of measures to spur Britain’s economic revival and the funding will cover 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week plus associated costs to the employer such as National Insurance and auto-enrolment costs.

As a Gateway Organisation for your sector, we can help you access Government funding to create new jobs for 18 to 24-year-olds that qualify for the scheme.

Also included in your support package from Sport Activity Professionals are some benefits that you won’t find with other Gateways.

  • As a specialist Gateway for the Sport, Leisure and the kids activities industry, with considerable experience in the sector, we are able to tailor the support package to your needs, as we understand your type of business and its requirements.
  • Mandatory employability training must be provided as part of the scheme.  We will manage the process of ensuring your employee gets access to their required training.  Making your job easier and ensuring that your employee has the skills they need to find work if you aren’t able to take them on permanently at the end of the six month period.
  • A range of optional training will be available which you can access for your new employee, giving them the very best start in your business.
  • Webinars which will cover key areas such as recruitment, HR and Health and Safety for young people and lots more.  Our January webinars were very well received and included an excellent presentation by world-renowned author and coach, Simon Hartley, covering the issue of recruiting on character.  All the webinars are recorded so you can watch them back if you miss them… or re-visit them if you feel the need.
  •  “Over Coffee” chats – we are going to be introducing these soon, so keep an eye out for them.  They will give you the opportunity to ask questions on a range of subjects relating to the employment of young people and the Kickstart scheme itself.  All will be hosted by well known and highly respected figures from the world of sport and business.

Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

  • 100% of the National Minimum Wage, for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months.
  • Associated employer National Insurance.
  • Associated Auto-Enrolment contributions where appropriate.
  • Support with training and development for your trainee.
