Education secretary Michael Gove is set to announce a boost in funding for school sport “shortly” according to sports minister Hugh Robertson. While specific details on what is due to be announced are sketchy, Mr Robertson indicated that there will be an emphasis on the school curriculum and some funding will be allocated to allow coaches to come into schools. He also defended Mr Gove’s record on school sport by insisting that certain targets he has been accused of missing were unrealistic, writes Tom Degun.
