Exciting Times at Coventry Business School and CIBS(E) – Centre for the International Business of Sport!!

Over the next few articles I want to talk about what the key issues for sport clubs have been over the past 6 months and will be moving into the next year or so…. I have recently been commissioned by Sage Publications (co-editor Samantha Gorse, Coventry University) to write a book on Contemporary Issues in Sport Management and while we have enlisted an international pool of experts to compile this edited edition I am always interested to hear what those working in the industry think!

Related to this, we are doing research on corruption in sport, including doping and match fixing and I am interested in how these affect grass roots sport, voluntary / recreational sport – DOES ANYONE PARTAKE IN DOPING PREVENTION PROGRAMMES SPECIFICALLY AIMED AT RECREATIONAL SPORT?

Most excitedly, we have recently won over 850k euros for a project on WHY MEGA-EVENTS FAIL TO DELIVER SUSTAINABLE LEAGACIES and best practice in managing impacts/legacy of mega-events (sporting, cultural, music) – watch this space for updates on this project and for press releases near project start date 15th Nov 2013. I am particularly interested in how YOU feel about mega-events such as the Olympics…. Have they had an impact on you or your club? Was it positive or negative? Any stories, examples or evidence of this would be great – email [email protected], TWEET on @TerriByers1 or respond on this site!
