Club Matters, Sport England’s one-stop-shop for sports clubs offering free practical resources, has partnered with free social networking service , Twitter UK, to create an online video workshop to help  grassroots clubs across the country manage their social media accounts.

The case study video, featuring Bruna Zanin-Juresic, Football Clubs Partnerships Lead at Twitter UK, outlines her top ten best practice tips for sports clubs on how to best make use of the platform and increase their followers.

The workshop forms part of a new range of free, time-saving digital services available on the Club Matters website, the home of convenient and flexible resources for sports clubs. The site includes advice on a diverse range of issues, including how to attract and retain members, improve their clubs, upskill administrators and secure additional funding.

The new online workshop complements the range of support that is available from Club Matters, including the regularly updated website, social media channels, popular monthly newsletter, podcasts and face-to-face workshops that cover Business Planning; Marketing and Finding the best club structure.

Bruna Zanin-Juresic, Lead of Football Clubs Partnerships at Twitter UK comments,

“Twitter is the place where people come to find out what’s happening in the world and the timeline never stops. By creating a robust content strategy people will follow you because they want to know what’s happening in your world. Keep them informed about the latest news from your club, bring them to the centre of the action and show them perspectives they would not usually have access to.”

Rosie Benson, Head of Clubs at Sport England, said: Despite 60% of the UK actively using social media, encouraging engagement on their own social media channels is often a challenge for sports and community clubs. We are delighted to be partnering with one of the biggest players in social media, to offer expert support in this key area. Sports clubs who are successful on social media platforms are built on the engagement of their followers and we hope the latest videos go some way in improving the way sport is influenced in your local area.”

“We also hope these videos add to our growing resource of tools on the Club Matters website, which has helped thousands of clubs so far. We know that running a sports club or group takes time, energy and dedication which is why our goal is to provide important information and advice to clubs in short and easy to digest formats that are free to access.”

Club Matters are looking to highlight different grassroots community sports organisations to show how the resources have translated into practical advice on the ground.  For any sports club, National Governing Bodies, County Sports Partnerships or volunteering groups that would like to share their knowledge and experiences please contact the Club Matters team on social media or via the website: www.sportenglandclubmatters.com.
