People living in the UK are likely to be 35 per cent less active in 2030 than they were in the 1960s – unless current trends of increases in inactivity are reversed.

The warning comes from Public Health England (PHE), as it today (19 July) published the latest edition of itsHealth matters: getting every adult active every dayguidance document – a resource designed for health professionals and local authorities looking to encourage more people to become physically active.

In the guidance, PHE calls for renewed efforts to promote physical activity as an integral part of having a healthy lifestyle.
