The Deregulation Bill, currently about to start its passage through the House of Lords, is a wide ranging Bill introduced by the Government to tidy up and update old bits and bobs of legislation which are either out of date or redundant.

Many of the changes in the Bill are a result of the Government’s ‘Red Tape Challenge’ designed to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses and individuals – a programme which the Alliance actively contributed to with our Red Card to Red Tape report in 2011.

As such the Bill covers a huge number of areas from housing, communications and education training to entertainment, insolvency and administration of justice.

One change that may particularly affect sports clubs is a proposal around alcohol licencing.
