Sport England’s £1.6m cut may be just the beginning after 100,000 lost players in past year, says Rick Broadbent
The FA has warned that there could be worse to come after receiving a £1.6 million slap on the wrist for failing to stop the player drain in the amateur ranks.
The gap between the mega-rich elite, with their £300,000-a-week pay packages, and the grassroots game, with 100,000 players lost in the past year, was laid bare by Sport England’s Payments for Results review.
