Each year, Swimathon raises funds for a nominated charity – which has included Macmillan Cancer support, NSPCC, The British Heart Foundation, The Prince’s Trust and, most recently, Marie Curie Cancer Care – and the Swimathon Foundation.

The Foundation offers grants to organisations and individuals who provide and promote swimming to their local community. It’s proven that taking regular exercise can improve health and wellbeing. Sometimes a little extra funding can help take this message to a lot more people.

Innovative new partnership to help fund community swimming groups

A brand new partnership has been set up to provide a grant scheme with a focus on community participation in swimming over the next four years.

The agreement brings together the knowledge and experience of the Swimming Trust and the ASA, the National Governing Body for Swimming, to manage the funding of community swimming programmes for the Swimathon Foundation. Grants will be awarded using monies raised through the Swimathon Foundation, including the high profile annual Swimathon event.

Both the Swimming Trust and the Swimathon Foundation are dedicated to delivering opportunities to enjoy swimming and to create a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities. This new partnership will be able to utilise the expertise of the ASA in targeting communities where the grants are most needed.
